Preparation and Usage Starting Skills

Project Steps

  1. Clean the paperweight with glass cleaner and paper towels
  2. Apply grad hat to the upper half of the glass
  3. Apply the letters for- Class of - directly under the hat.
  4. Place diploma template on the blank Over N Over stencil material leaving at least a half inch of space surrounding the outside of where the design will be cut. Trace around the design.
  5. Cut out the diploma while stencil material is still on the backer sheet. Once you have cut out the design, cut it away from the rest of the blank material. Leave at least a half inch of solid material surrounding the design.
  6. Apply diploma stencil right under the Class Of wording, overlapping the top edge of the diploma stencil with the bottom edge of the wording.
  7. Apply the reverse numbers for the year you want from the Mr Mrs stencil sheet using the tweezers or point of the craft knife. Place the numbers inside the diploma.
  8. Surround the group of stencils with masking tape, overlapping all edges, cover entire rest of the glass with masking tape, include filling in any little gaps with small pieces of tape
  9. Put on the rubber gloves. Load the brush with Armour Glass Etching cream. PAT the etch cream onto the stencils (do not brush it on) until each is thoroughly covered with a 1/4 inch of cream.
  10. Leave cream on for 5 minutes
  11. Rinse off all of the etching cream under running water. Remove stencils and rinse again. Pat the stencils dry and return them to the carrier sheet.
